Freddie Flintoff’s face remains messed up months after crash

Ex-cricketer and one-fight professional boxer Andrew Freddie Flintoff is sporting facial injuries nine months after a horror car wreck.

Seen in public for the first time since taking a step away from TV to recover, Flintoff took in an England cricket match in the stands.

The scars of his accident were visible on his face and beg the question, “How bad were the injuries nine months ago?”

Flintoff’s Boxing stint

Flintoff made a successful foray into professional boxing in 2012. He scored a 39-38 decision win over previously unbeaten Richard Dawson at Manchester Arena.

At the time, Flintoff was 34 years old and tipped to continue in the sport. The all-rounder, who famously claimed ashes glory before getting drunk, was dropped in the second session by the American.

However, he took every round with his technical ability to claim his first victory.

Dawson had a 25-pound weight advantage over Flintoff but seemed to struggle with the Briton’s rangy jab and awkward style as he suffered his first defeat since turning pro.

Flintoff was documenting his switch to boxing for his three-part TV series on Sky1 HD. Flintoff decided not to renew his twelve-month boxing license six months after the bout.

He left boxing activity in the professional ranks undefeated after stating that his one-fight foray into the sport last year would be his last.

Citing a shoulder injury, Flintoff stepped away, never to return.

Flintoff was ridiculed in some quarters for his attempts to become a fighter. However, he held himself with dignity and professionalism throughout his involvement in one of the most brutal ways to make a living.

He returned to his regular slot on the Sky One series A League of Their Own and various other projects. Since the crash, filmed on Top Gear, he’s decided not to pursue any further work on the small screen.

Face “peeled off”

Doctors say Flintoff will be permanently damaged from the accident and require more plastic surgeries to regain his old face.

The last Top Gear series was not aired due to what happened to Flintoff. The BBC has not announced when the popular car show will return.

One person commenting on Flintoff’s face stated part of it might have been torn off and re-attached.

“You can see from the line of scarring on Andrew Flintoff that his face was peeled open, nose, lips the lot. No wonder he was traumatized,” said the Threads comment.
