EXCLUSIVE: Brian Rose giving boxing another crack, explains reasons for comeback

Rose last fought in a decision loss against Jack Arnfield in March, 2017. Now, after some time off ‘The Lion’ is set to embark on the comeback trail.

“I had a little injury, my nerves stopped working in my tricep and I had nine months out because of that. I went on my stag-do and got married and I spent a bit of time out,” Rose explained to World Boxing News.

“But then just thinking about the Macklin fight which was so close and then the Jack Arnfield fight was so close, either fight could of went either way and I could be sitting here in a position where I have won both of those fights,” he added, explaining the reasons for his comeback.

“It just seems mad for me to retire on the basis of those two losses when they could of quite easily be wins.”

At 33-years-old, Rose isn’t exactly at an age where he can be counted out, and he thinks he’s in perfect condition.

“I’m injury free now. I have no injuries whatsoever,” he said. “Even in the Macklin fight, and I don’t want to be disrespectful, I had a problem with my elbow and I had an operation after that fight. I didn’t leave enough time to recover going into the Arnfield fight.

“Not many people know that, because I’m not the type to moan and make excuses, I just move on and take the loss, I’m going to come back and show everyone I have loads left in the tank,”

Whenever a veteran fighter announces a comeback, there are detractors that write it off as a last attempt to make some money, but for Rose, it’s more than that.

“People have come out and said ‘he needs the money’ and stuff. Everyone needs money, but that isn’t my goal, my goal is to win.

“If everything goes how I think it will, then the money will come with that. But like I say, it’s not about the money. It’s about not having regrets when I’m 40 or 50-years-old,” Rose concluded.
