Exclusive: Cummings eyes Jenman victory before Keeler return

Cummings and Keeler are both slated to appear on the historic Windsor Park bill this Saturday, headlined by Carl Frampton.

Last time they both appeared on the undercard of a Frampton bill they fought against each other, with Keeler picking up the victory.

Now both men have different opponents on the card but could still meet again in the future.

“I would love the Keeler rematch. He won the first fight fair and square and I’m taking nothing away from him, but I know I can perform much, much, much better than I did that night.” Cummings exclusively told World Boxing News.

Cummings is insistent that it was a bad night at the office and wouldn’t happen again were the two to square off once more.

“I know what went wrong in the lead-up and I have addressed those things. I would love the opportunity to get it on again. I believe I would win if we fought again,” he said.

Both men will have to take care of business on Saturday – Cummings is facing Nicky Jenman and Keeler’s opponent is yet TBA – if they have any designs on securing a high-profile rematch.

But you get the sense, especially for Cummings, that to fully move on, he will need to correct what he sees as a black mark on his record.

“I’m fully focused on my fight on this card for now. But I do hope I can get the opportunity sooner rather than later,” concluded the Irish middleweight.
