As Wilder scouts around for a new target following failed discussions with Anthony Joshua, Fury has revealed his desire to share the ring with the big punching American.

“I can confirm that me and Deontay Wilder are in negotiations,” Fury said. “Very close to being done. Frank told you all on talkSPORT this morning. It’s out there now.

“I can reveal that negotiations are very strong for December. We’re almost done with this deal.

“I won’t be looking over Francesco Pianeta, he’s going to give me the right fight and the right work to prepare me for Deontay Wilder.

“I’ve got to flatten him first, then Wilder, let’s dance. You’ve been dealing with s***houses in the past, Eddie Hearn and Joshua.

“I am a man of my word, if I say I’ll fight you, I’ll fight you. I’ll knock Francesco Pianeta into next week. Then I’ll knock you spark out too. Good luck,” he added.

WBN confirmed on Sunday that Wilder’s stipulated clash with Dominic Breazeale wasn’t due until the end of the year, although any fight with Fury could put that mandatory off until 2019.

Fury has a second comeback bout on August 18 at Windsor Parker and it still finding his feet following a lengthy absence from competing.

Francesco Pianeta represents a step-up from Fury’s first opponent Sefer Seferi which brought about a return to the WBC rankings.

Wilder would potentially have to ask for special dispensation to face Fury but WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman may look favourably on the contest after the collapse of an undisputed bout with Joshua.

WBN has reached out to Deontay Wilder’s representatives for comment on a potential battle with Fury.
