EXCLUSIVE: Hearn in CLASS GESTURE, picks up tab as Eggington PULLS OUT leaving Cook London sightseeing and OFF PPV bill again

Canadian Cook was firstly due to face former world champion Kell Brook at The O2 Arena but urged his family to cancel flights and plans after the Sheffield man injured his ankle.

Days later, Cook re-booked his travel as Sam Eggington stepped into the breach, giving the 32 year-old renewed hope of featuring on a massive Sky Box Office card.

Just one week prior and ‘Bad Boy’ heard the sad news he was no longer on the bill as Eggington was also forced to withdraw with an ailment.

Rather than cancel again, Cook, his relatives and team have decided to do some London sightseeing and hope to grab some tickets from Hearn for this Saturday’s action.

Hearn has also told Cook he will be reimbursed for his troubles and may now be drafted in on a future Matchroom or Matchroom USA card.

“Yes, the fight is off again,” Cook exclusively told World Boxing News on Monday.

“I had people book flights again but they are just going to come anyway and enjoy London.

“I hope we can get some tickets to the fights at least. Eddie did say he would send some money though so I’m happy about that. Hopefully, the fight (with Sam Eggington) gets booked for September.

“I’m in London now. Eddie paid for the flights so me and my promoter Tyler Buxton still made the trip over since we found out last Saturday night (about Eggington).”

Egginton himself was apologetic about the situation when reaching out to Cook on social media.

“I want to say sorry to Brandon Cook. We would have had a great fight! I’m absolutely gutted but hopefully, we can get it on in September,” said ‘The Savage’ before Cook replied with: “Thanks for taking the fight on short notice anyway.

“I hope you recover quickly and we can give the fans a great fight on the Amir Khan undercard or even the Anthony Joshua bill,” he added optimistically.

A British heavyweight title eliminator featuring Nick Webb and Dave Allen has now replaced Cook’s co-feature on the card.
