The fight between Usyk (14-0, 11 КО) and Gassiev (26-0, 19 КО) will be held on July 21 in Moscow at the Olympic Stadium Sports Complex, confirmed The President of the Russian Boxing Federation Umar Kremlev.
Previously, the Ukrainian boxer Usyk said he was willing to fight Murat Gassiev anywhere in the world.
Usyk and Gassiev were fighting on May 11, but the fight was postponed due to an injury suffered by the Ukrainian boxer.
In other news, World Boxing Council middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (38-0-1, 34 KOs), was honored at the “Palm” restaurant in Los Angeles, by the Ring Magazine, presenting him with the symbolic belt, from the very hands of his Editor Doug Fischer.
Gennady said: “I am very happy to receive this gift from Ring Magazine and that we were able to reach an agreement to do the rematch with Saul Canelo Alvarez.
This is the fight that everyone wants to see and we’re going to do it.”
Gennady is expected to begin his intense preparation phase for the rematch against the former world champion, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, at the beginning of July, astutely guided by his coach, Abel Sánchez.
