Joseph Parker v Bryant Jennings eyed for Aug 18 in Atlantic City

The 26 year-old became the first man to go the distance with Anthony Joshua when Parker travelled to the UK in March, but unfortunately dropped his WBO heavyweight belt in the process.

Still highly ranked due to his performance and previous reign, Parker aims to be back in the title mix with a win over Jennings on August 18 in Atlantic City.

Parker needed someone with a decent name for what will be a first contest on United States soil for some four years as the Kiwi looks to seal a 25th career victory and put the Joshua reverse firmly behind him.

Jennings, 33, is riding a four-fight winning streak since suffering back-to-back losses at world level against Luis Ortiz and Wladimir Klitschko, with Joey Dawejko the latest victim of the rangy American.

Whoever comes out on top, should advanced negotiations be made official over the coming days, will firmly be in the frame for a world title shot should they hold their position into 2019.

The current complexity of the mandatory situation, plus the Deontay Wilder unification factor, could tie up Joshua’s belts for the foreseeable future as the likes of Parker and Jennings attempt to stand out from the crowd to earn another shot.

Reports in New Zealand had Parker considering home comforts after branching out for Joshua, although should the Jennings fight get over the line, the former ruler can begin building his name on US soil.
