Cristian Mijares ready to bow out of boxing on June 16

“We always prepare ourselves hard. What makes it different is that we are at home and although people will be supporting us, we can not afford to lose.

“The commitment is even greater, it feels nice to walk in the streets and that people tell you that they will be in the arena supporting me.

“That’s why I want to give the best performance of my life, with an unforgettable fight for them and for me.”

Cristian (59-8-2 and 27 KO’s) will face former world champion Vázquez Jr (24-7-1 and 19 KO’s), who has already fought in Mexico.

This was on December 15, 2007 at the Plaza de Toros in Cancun, Quintana Roo, where he drew with Jorge Cárdenas.

“It’s going to be a special fight not only due to this rival, to be at home, we’re also going to celebrate 20 years of professional careers.

“That’s a reason for pride because not everyone has such a long and successful career, great joys and complicated moments.

“This would not have been possible without the support of my family and my wife, they have always been there to be my original motivation.”

Mijares and Vázquez Jr is presented by Promociones del Pueblo in association with Cancún Boxing of Pepe Gómez and Boxing Time of Memo Rocha.
