Tyson Fury warns rivals: I’m fitter and faster than 2015, better than I’ve ever been

Fury will shake off 31 months of ring rust against cruiserweight Sefer Seferi on June 9 at Manchester Arena, the first step on the 27 year-old’s rocky road to redemption.

A whirlwind two years of excess and ballooning in weight following his excellent victory over Wladimir Klitschko in 2015 finally led to Fury making a decision regarding his future in 2017.

The ex-ruler began training with Billy Joe Saunders coach Ben Davision and has since lost a mass of pounds to get himself in fighting shape for the summer.

With just a few weeks to go until his return, Fury believes he’s at the peak of his powers as ‘The Gypsy King’ plots a route to dethroning Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua in the coming years.

“I can’t wait to get in there and prove that I’m a better fighter than I’ve ever been,” said Fury.

“I’m coming into the prime of my career now and I’ve never felt better. I’m fitter, stronger and faster than the Fury of 2015.

“We’re just three weeks away from what is going to be a huge night for the city of Manchester.

“I’m delighted to be fighting at the iconic Manchester Arena for the first time in my career and I’m promising the fans a special performance to thank them for their loyal support,” he added.

Granted the announcement of Seferi hasn’t gone down too well with some, but in the context of Fury’s development and transformation the Albanian seems a perfect choice.

Sterner tests will follow for Fury by the end of 2018 as a world ranking would be required with at least two governing bodies before any contests with Wilder or Joshua could come to fruition.
