With the likes of Gennady Golovkin, Vasyl Lomachenko, Adonis Stevenson, Gary Russell Jr. and massive UK clashes between Lee Selby and Josh Warrington and Tony Bellew and David Haye taking place, the spring season really hit the ground running as fans prepare for a scorching summer of action.
In the WBN Pound for Pound ratings, the summit changed hands for the first time since the latter part of 2017 as Lomachenko overhauled Golovkin with an impressive stoppage of Jorge Linares.
A week earlier, Golovkin had defeated Vanes Martirosyan – a victory which ultimately wasn’t enough to keep the big-punching Kazakh at the helm.
On the same night, Bellew’s repeat win over Haye failed to see the former WBC cruiserweight champion enter the half century, whilst Stevenson and Jack’s impressive draw at the weekend lifted both boxers a couple of places.
Warrington’s shock of Selby in Leeds put the new IBF featherweight ruler on the fringes of cracking the list, whilst Russell Jr. improved his standing by fending off the challenge of Joseph Diaz Jr.
The biggest mover was Hekkie Budler, who unified a second weight division by picking up two light-flyweight belts in Japan.
