17th March hosted a series of bouts featuring debutants and prospect level professional boxers. On the high of success, Gary Booth detailed the event in an exclusive interview with WBN.

“Yeah it was a fantastic event, there were minor things which we could pick up on and make better basically.”

Booth revealed the combination of an amateur and professional show was something he wanted to do.

“I’m over the moon with it, we had an amateur showing before that and that was part of my plan when I opened the gym up; put on an amateur showing and the pros show together on the same day, the same venue and it worked. It worked really well.

“The kids enjoyed the event and two cracking little shows, really enjoyed it, it was just what I expected. It’s my type of thing, I’m dying to get my hands dirty with things like that. It’s up my street.”

Booth also had time to clear up the next show Empire Boxing Promotions will be hosting. When asked about the upcoming show, he replied: “The 26th will change to the 27th at a different venue, it will be the same venue as what we had before.

“I think because the 26th is the champions league day, I think Sunday and then the bank holiday I think that might just be the job. We’re looking forward to that one.”

Running his own gym, Booth wants to keep amateur and professional shows separate for the time being, hoping to return to that situation in the future.

“We’ve got an amateur show on the 11th but we’re not going to put another show on the same time, we’re gonna keep them separate for the time being and then hopefully in the future we’ll put another one on.

“Concentrating more on one more than the other as it’s a bit tough having two on the same day,” he added.
