Exclusive: Caleb Truax promoter Tony Grygelko unhappy, sees scope for James DeGale decider

Truax travelled to the UK last December to score a shock victory over DeGale in his own backyard to realize his lifelong ambition of becoming a world ruler.

Fast forward five months and DeGale returned the favor when heading to Las Vegas to take the title back in a closer encounter.

Grygelko says the ring official and judging were suspect at the Hard Rock Hotel and will be lobbying with the IBF to secure a trilogy and deciding bout for his fighter.

“There has been a big response from other fighters, fans, and boxer writers who want to see a third fight between Caleb Truax and James DeGale,” Grygelko exclusively told World Boxing News.

“I was very unhappy with the way the night went and that I’m currently looking into what our options are to address the refereeing and outcome of the fight.”

On whether Truax would be willing to go back to DeGale’s home country in order to seal the deal, Grygelko added: “Sure, absolutely. Caleb would fight him on the moon if need be!”

DeGale has already mentioned a possible rematch with George Groves since regaining his championship as ‘The Saint’ is the only other opponent to hold a reverse against him.

A win for ‘Chunky’ over Groves would mean the former Olympic Gold Medallist had defeated every man faced in a pro ring, although faces a roadblock until the end of the World Boxing Super Series tournament.

Groves is due to fight Callum Smith for the Muhammad Ali Trophy, which potentially would leave DeGale free to face Truax one more time – if agreed.

Whatever the future holds for Truax, the American will have a firm target on his back with the other world-rated contenders as an ex-recognized champion – with or without DeGale.
