Lucas Browne confirms hospital all clear following brutal KO

Lucas Browne has assured all he’s fine after Dillian Whyte recorded a crushing sixth-round knockout over the tough Aussie in London.

The 38-year-old was taken to hospital following a brutal blackout loss, as there were some fears for Browne once the final left hook punch had landed.

Defending his WBC Silver heavyweight title, Whyte was in far better shape than his counterpart and took advantage in winning every round.
Browne was always looking for a one-punch haymaker finish but couldn’t get close enough to a trim and lively Whyte, who opened up a nasty cut in the very first session.

The eye damage worsened every round before a busted nose added to Browne’s troubles in the fifth.

In the sixth, Whyte turned Browne’s lights out entirely with a sickening blow.

‘Big Daddy’ was worryingly down for some time and didn’t move, but with the help of the ringside medics, he was soon back to his feet to the relief of Whyte and the UK crowd.

A trip to be medically assessed ended with good news for Browne’s supporters.

“Hi everyone. Thanks very much for the love and support. It wasn’t my night, and I have massive respect for Dillian Whyte for his performance,” said Browne.

“My eye was giving me trouble from the second, and you can’t protect yourself from what you can’t see. I’m all good, and I will be back.”

Whyte could now move on to a rematch with Anthony Joshua should his old rival come through, Joseph Parker, in Cardiff next week, while Browne has a rebuilding job to do for the first time in his boxing career.

After the contest, Whyte called out Deontay Wilder to agree a WBC title fight, although the Londoner could be ordered to face Dominic Breazeale in a final eliminator first.

Wilder, on the other hand, has his focus fixed on ex-Whyte opponent Anthony Joshua.
