WBA title trio this week: Zeuge v Ekpo II / Golulamirian v Merhy (vacant 200lb) / Soto v Vera

The German champion will defend his crown for the third time since he won it in November 2016. Zeuge will have to face the Nigerian boxer, whom he already faced during his first defense in March last year and defeated in five rounds due to a cut in his face.

The champion was cut by an accidental headbutt from Ekpo in the third round and fought in those conditions until the fifth, when the referee stopped the fight on the recommendation of the doctors and they went to the cards, in which the local was ahead.

The rematch will be an interesting fight in which both will seek to keep the crown in their hands. Zeuge and Ekpo will complete the weigh-in ceremony on Friday before entering the ring on Saturday. The European has a record of 21 wins, without defeat, a draw and 11 knockouts, while the African has a record of 32 wins, 3 losses and 25 knockouts.

Arsen Golulamirian and Ryad Merhy will have a clash of undefeated boxers this Saturday in Marseille, France. Both boxers will fight to stay with the World Boxing Association (WBA) Cruiserweight Championship, which is currently vacant.

Goulamirian, born in Armenia with French nationality, will try to maintain his immaculate record against Merhy, a native of Côte d’Ivoire of Belgian nationality. Goulamirian was the the body’s continental champion of the weight division in the past, while Merhy has owned the intercontinental belt of the same division.

Open workouts, press conferences and the weigh-in ceremony will take place during this week. Both will have to mark the 200 pounds of the division before Saturday’s match.

Goulamirian has 22 wins, no losses and 14 knockouts, while Merhy has a record of 24 wins, no defeats and 20 knockouts.

Born in Ivory Coast and of French nationality, Michel Soto will face American John Verá for the World Boxing Association (WBA) Super Welterweight Interim title at the Palais des sports de Marseille, in France.

Both boxers have good experience in professional boxing and feel ready to stay with the 154-pound title in a fight that looks close. Both have already owned regional and international belts within the organization but want to take a step forward in their careers with the Interim title of the division.

Both Soro and Vera will carry out several activities prior to their fight, including meetings with the press, medical examinations and, of course, the weigh-in ceremony. Soro has a record of 31 wins, 2 losses, 1 draw and 21 knockouts. Vera, on the other hand, has an undefeated record of 18 wins with 11 knockouts.
