Divisional Rankings: Kovalev regains #1 at 175, Rigondeaux at 122

Sergey Kovalev’s recent knockout has meant a return to the top of the 175 pile after the Russian regained the light-heavyweight world title.

Kovalev’s achievements in unifying and activity taking on bigger names in the ilk of Andre Ward mean the ‘Krusher’ overtakes long-time nemesis Adonis Stevenson.

The 34 year-old had dropped as low as third due to back-to-back defeats against Ward, but the American’s retirement – coupled with Kovalev’s championship triumph sees a resurgence confirmed.

At the super-bantamweight limit, Guillermo Rigondeaux clings to his previously solid place as the number one at 122 pounds despite being dominated by Vasyl Lomachenko.

‘Rigo’ retired on his stool after six completed rounds and subsequently went into freefall on the Pound for Pound list.

Dropping from 6th position to 30th still sees the Cuban rated above 35-ranked Jessie Magdaleno and ahead of the likes of Rey Vargas, Marlon Tapales and Moises Flores.

Sadam Ali is a big mover at 154 on the back of his surprising triumph over Miguel Cotto as the new super-welterweight champion now sits behind Erislandy Lara in the number two spot.
