Selby v Munroe: EBU title bout set for Froch v Groves PPV event

Selby, 26, recently announced that he will be moving on from domestic level after his clash with Walsh at the O2 Arena this weekend, and according to future opponent Munroe’s manager Mike Shinfield, that will happen on the Carl Froch v George Groves undercard.

Shinfield was speaking to BBC Radio Leicester this morning when confirming the news, which adds another quality bout to the upcoming Sky Sports Box Office PPV offering between IBF and WBA super-middleweight champion Froch and up and comer Groves.

Leicester’s own Munroe has successfully come out of retirement since losing to Bury’s Scott Quigg in what affectively turned out to be a full WBA title shot and the 33 year-old was on the verge of an English title challenge prior to this announcement.

The ‘Boxing Binman’ came through Andy Townend via a ten-round points decision last week at the Doncaster Dome and the former WBC title challenger now has the chance to become a two-weight European title holder having previously held the coveted blue belt at 122lbs in 2008.
