Canelo guaranteed $5million plus add-ons for Mayweather

The 23 year-old, who currently hold two world titles at 154lbs, can also expect to have his cheque boosted considerably from worldwide TV rights and PPV figures, according to the NSAC Executive Director Keith Kizer.

“Canelo will receive a guaranteed $5million dollars. Although I am sure he will get more based on the PPV figures,” Kizer told World Boxing News.

‘The One’ as the mammoth bout is aptly-named, is tipped to break pay-per-view records on Saturday night, maybe not for the amount of buys, but rather because of inflation and the overall cost purchasing the package.

Mayweather’s 2007 fight with Alvarez’s promoter Oscar De La Hoya is the current leading PPV of all time generating just over 2.5million buys, although anything over 1.5million for Saturday’s card will be seen as a success.

Floyd Mayweather v Saul Alvarez (WBC and WBA light-middleweight titles), backed up by Danny Garcia v Lucas Mattysse (WBC and WBA light-welterweight titles) is live on BoxNation in the UK. To subscribe click on any BoxNation link or banner on the WBN website.
