Pacquiao waited for Mayweather before signing for Mosley

Money and contracts did not seem to be an issue with the unbeaten four-weight world champion as his outside troubles have kept him out of the ring since he out-pointed Mosley himself, in a one-sided bout in May of 2010.

Bob Arum had given a deadline, announced alternative opponents and even expressed his personal desire to get the fight made, but all appeared to be in vain as Mayweather never really got deep enough into any sort of talks to make a concrete case to challenge Pacquaio.

That task now falls to “Sugar”, who gets his chance after indifferent form over the last three years. Wins over Miguel Cotto challenger Ricardo Mayorga and Pacquiao’s last opponent Antonio Margarito in late 2008 and early 2009, have kept Mosley’s credibility to a level where it outweighs the bad defeat to Floyd and the draw with Sergio Mora in September.

But at 39, the questions remain as to whether he can cope with a Manny Pacquiao at the peak of his physical powers, who will be looking for a stunning knockout to out-do Mayweather’s almost perfect boxing performance against Mosley at the MGM Grand.

Mosley was a top draw boxer in his day, but like so many before, fights on looking for more titles and more glory, when he should be enjoying the fruits of his labours. For me, It’s a stunning Pacquiao performance once again, after which, we all start shouting for Pacquiao v Mayweather again, before its too late.
