Derek Chisora signs to fight Wladimir Klitschko in Germany

Commonwealth and British Heavyweight Champion Derek Chisora has accepted Wladimir Klitschko’s offer to fight the WBO and IBF Champion in Germany on December 11th.

It had been speculated in the last week that Wladimir had sounded out the undefeated Brit. He wanted ‘Del Boy’ for his tenth defense of the IBF belt and the sixth of his WBO Title.

It now seems Chisora’s promoter, Frank Warren, thinks the time is right. Chisora has to look at options at the higher world level. They don’t come anymore significant a challenge at heavyweight than the younger of the Klitschko brothers.

Wladimir Klitschko vs Derek Chisora

Wladimir has 55 wins from his 58 contests after disposing of former world champion Samuel Peter earlier this month. The tenth-round knockout of the Nigerian was his 49th KO.

Chisora, 26, has 14 wins on his unblemished record. He will fly to Germany hoping to emulate fellow Brit David Haye’s feat and bring the world title back from German soil.

Amir Khan takes on Marcos Maidana in Las Vegas on the same night. Frank Warren is also planning a “huge show” around that date and may now plump for the 11th.
